Offlate, our Powerstar PuneethRajkumar is been choosy in choice of scripts where he has given importance to commercial flicks as well as subject oriented common Man Topics. It came as no surprise when it was announced that PRK is teaming up with the director Suri for 3rd Time who is well known for making emotional and suave movies like Kaddipudi and Kendasampige. Earlier the combo had come together in Jackie and AnnaBond. So how good is their latest and much anticipated bait to ring the cashbells at boxoffice? Check it out here
From the movie name itself, one could guess its of Family Drama Genre and the trailer would prove that it has elements of Action, Drama, Romance, Comedy laced out along. Yes it’s an age old story of an isolated son and his Father reuniting after combating against the atrocities of the villain and save the family lineage. It’s an old wine in an old bottle itself and just a new label wrapped around.
Puneeth Rajkumar proves that he is a Director’s actor and has given 100%to the script which happens to be his 25th Film as well.He has played the role of a samaritan with finesse and ease. Be it in romantic scenes or dancing skills or action sequences. He excels out. Even his North-Karnataka dialect is flawless and thanks to English subtitles as well as many people down the south would feel the colloquial language words are the crutch ones.Radhika Pandith Plays a city lass. The romantic track ‘Thraas Akkathhi’ gives ample opportunities to showoff the leading lady’s expressions and even her comic timing is commendable. The villain Cable Raja acted upon by Ravishankar is a big plus as his dialogue delivery and ruggedness were garnering whistles every now and then. The big stellar starcast includes Ambareesh, Sumalatha, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Avinash, Srinivas Murthy, Madarangi Krishna, Prashanth Siddhi, B.Suresha. All gets their share of screen moments and it’s just fine. The underutilized were the regular comedians of Sandalwood Rangayana Raghu and Chikkanna.
Satya Hegde's camerawork has captures Hubballi afresh: Food street, Tuluja Bhavani Temple, Siddharooda Matha, Kittoor Rani Chennamma Circle and more.
The positives being the characterization from soori, visuals by Sathya Hegde, and the running length of 2hrs 17mins. There are total six action sequences in the film, that stands out. It's been done innovatively and looks fresh.
What haven’t come out well are the predictable story and the slow pace. 35minutes into the movie and still the story is out of sight with character introductions and loosely twined comedy. Director Soori who had the Herculean task to deliver this highly expected movie could have shouldered out more by working on improvising the weak storyline. There is a constant reference of Iconic Dr.Rajkumar just to get Whistles and Hoots. Even the Suri-Harikrishna combination which has produced some big chartbusters and some meaningful melodies has failed to recreate the same magic here. Songs are not situational. All the 4 songs seem to be written first and its been squeezed in between the main plot. The emotional scenes don’t connect much and when you are out of theatre, the audience would be definitely like craving for something impactful.
Final Word: With the tagline like, ‘Abhimanigale Nammane Devaru’ it's disappointing that the much celebrated director-actor duo leaves a lot to be desired .
